Amateur Ornithologist launch their new single, Swing Around, with an evening of spooky pop music in the perfect atmospheric soundings of the Victoria Tunnel. The band will play specially-arranged acoustic versions of songs from across their catalogue.
Amateur Ornithologist is a weird pop ensemble from North East England, performing with anything from four to seven musicians playing a mixture of orchestral and pop instruments.
The band have earned comparisons to Talking Heads, The Beach Boys and local heroes Prefab Sprout due to their adventurous approach to densely-layered, harmony-filled pop.
The band focus on crafting captivating songs inspired by the everyday-weird of neurodivergent lives to the uncanny of Victorian ghost stories. But it's the ability to translate these into enchanting live shows complete with costumes and stage dressing that sets AO apart.
Amateur Ornithologist have released three albums, been on the cover of NARC Magazine, played sold-out shows, and performed at Marrapalooza, Summer Streets, Last Train Home and Durham Brass Festival.
